Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) is the second and longest chapter of the Quran, revealed in Medina to guide the new Muslim community. It contains the story of a miraculous cow, where the Children of Israel were commanded to sacrifice a heifer to identify a murderer, highlighting their reluctance to obey God and their hesitation in following Prophet Musa (Moses).
the Story:

The Murder Mystery: A wealthy man from the Bani Israel was killed by his nephew, who sought to inherit his wealth. The body was placed at another person’s doorstep to frame them, causing intense conflict and confusion.
The Divine Command: The people approached Prophet Musa to find the murderer. Allah commanded them to slaughter a cow (Baqarah) and strike the deceased with a part of it, which would bring the dead man back to life to identify his killer.
They said, “Call upon your Lord for us to make plain to us its colour.” He said, “He says, ‘It is a yellow cow, bright in its colour, pleasing to the beholders.’
Surah al-Baqarah, Ayah 68
Once again, instead of listening to Musa (as), they asked more questions! “What color must it be?” Musa (as) all fed up with his people, once again asked Allah (swt) and He replied,
Bani Israel were still not satisfied and asked for more details. Their ungratefulness and arrogance led them to ask more questions. So, Musa (as) asked Allah (swt) once AGAIN, and He replied,
He [Musa (Moses)] said, “He says, ‘It is a cow neither trained to till the soil nor water the fields, sound, having no other colour except bright yellow.’ ” They said, “Now you have brought the truth.” So they slaughtered it though they were near to not doing it.
So We said: “Strike him (the dead man) with a piece of it (the cow).” Thus Allah brings the dead to life and shows you His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, so that you may understand.

They began their search for this particular cow until they found it with an orphan, from whom they bought it and slaughtered it. Moses took a piece of its meat after the slaughter (some say it was its tongue) and struck the dead man with it, and he rose from the dead. Moses asked him who his killer was, and he told them then he died again. The Children of Israel witnessed the miracle of the dead before their very eyes and heard with their own ears the name of the killer,
